Innovation & Enterprise 101

Innovation & Enterprise 101 is a programme that aims to equip both staff and students with the foundational skills and knowledge to effectively create impact from their research by developing products and services that will have societal benefit via commercial licensing, spin-out company formation and the creation of social enterprises.

No prior knowledge is required, nor do you need a specific project in mind. By the end of the series all participants will understand the building blocks required to start their enterprise journey.

The sessions will be a mixture of both online webinars and in-person session. In-person sessions will provide an opportunity to network with like-minded people, entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurial support across the institution, and the wider innovation ecosystem to build a supportive community to help participants on their journeys.

30th October 2025 – Why Innovation

This session was held at 12:00pm-1:00pm on Thursday 30th October 2025 as an online webinar. This introductory session includes a range of speakers from across the university on why it’s important to translate research into real world solutions and what support there is at the university to help on your journey.

Why Innovation webinar 30.10.25

1st December 2025 – Business Ideation

This session will be held at 10.30am–12:00pm on Monday 1st December 2025 in-person in the ARC. This session will take participants through the steps of generating and refining an idea in a fun and interactive workshop. No idea needed to join in, this session is about learning one method and considerations for early-stage ideation.
