Provision of research data stewardship support

We offer specialised technical support for researchers when:

  • Your project includes primary data collection or complex secondary data use, such as data linkage.
  • Your research presents data governance questions that will benefit from additional specialist support.
  • You are unable to ensure the findability, accessibility, interoperability and reproducibility (FAIR principles) of your data.
  • Your research has significant data security and compliance requirements that you are unsure how to meet.

Access to this service

Proposal stage:

  • We will liaise with you to agree requirements, estimate time commitment and discuss associated costs / text for inclusion with your proposal.

Following notification of award:

  • We can discuss timeframes, staffing allocations and partnership models with you.

Costs

Costs are calculated on the basis of required FTEs/duration of work.

Buy-out is typically based on the midpoint of G7. Indicative buy-out rates are as follows:

  • Bronze: 2.5% FTE for projects involving only secondary data, data linkage and code sharing.
  • Silver: 5% FTE if collecting new data, more for data-intensive projects.
  • Gold: 7.5% FTE if you want hands-on support with data management planning and archiving.
