Discover the real Fukushima

Published: 15 January 2018

Join the UofG Fukushima Ambassadors to discuss the past, present and future of Fukushima and its people following the disasters of March 2011.

More than six years have now passed since the disastrous events of 11 March 2011, but their impact continues to affect those living in Fukushima.

In August 2017 four students from the University of Glasgow were selected to join the Fukushima Ambassador Programme, and given the opportunity to see, hear and reflect upon the challenges faced in Fukushima today.

During the three week programme the students were taken on an exclusive tour of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, visited areas still under evacuation from the nuclear fallout, and spoke to local farmers, scientists and government officials about their experiences. The programme also included visits to sites devastated by the tsunami produced by the initial earthquake.

Join the UofG Fukushima Ambassadors to find out more about what they witnessed and uncover the truth about the impact the disaster had on Fukushima and its people.
