New CPD sessions announced by the Learning Enhancement and Academic Development Service

Every year, LEADS offers a series of continual professional development sessions aimed at helping staff enhance their teaching and their students' learning.

"We'll make a full timetable available towards the end of the summer once times and venues have been finalised but, in the meantime, see below for a list of the session titles we'll have on offer," writes Dr Scott Ramsay, Good Practice Adviser.

"We have 56 sessions spread across five themes, which reflect Glasgow's institutional priorities as a leader in enhancing teaching. Whether you're thinking of how to develop your teaching and assessment practice for the benefit of your students, looking to update the programmes you coordinate, thinking about promotion, or just considering CPD opportunities in preparation for your P&DR, take a look at the list below. Where applicable, sessions have been mapped against the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) dimensions in support of formal accreditation.

"To these core strands, we'll shortly add six sessions from invited external speakers. They'll be able to share their expertise and bring perspectives on issues facing the sector from other higher education institutions.," he adds.

The full list will be advertised by email later in the summer, and also here. Booking will also open there when venues have been confirmed.

In the meantime, if you have any questions, you can contact me, the Good Practice Adviser, by reply, or at LEADS-CPD@glasgow.ac.uk.

Assessment & Feedback Strand

The aim of this strand is to support participants in their assessment & feedback practice, to gain new understanding, and to equip them to build a cohesive approach to promoting academic integrity and designing out plagiarism from their course assessments.

Active Learning Spaces Strand

This strand encourages participants to integrate active learning approaches in their teaching, regardless of which physical or virtual space this learning takes place in whether a newly refurbished teaching space, or a more traditional one. This strand also champions students' mental wellbeing throughout their learning process.

Developing Your Students Strand

This strand looks at issues that directly impact upon individual students' success, confidence, understanding and competence in performing to the appropriate level.

Scholarship of Learning & Teaching (SoTL) Strand

The aim of this strand is to support participants from the inception of a scholarship idea to its planning and design, and from undertaking the intervention to publication and dissemination of its outcomes. The sessions in this strand complement our taught courses here.

Recognising Excellence in Teaching (RET) Framework Strand

This strand will support participants in gaining a professional recognition of expertise in teaching and supporting learning at the University of Glasgow. RET accreditation is externally vetted, and aligned against the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) https://www.heacademy.ac.uk/system/files/downloads/uk_professional_standards_framework.pdf.
