The Centre for Virus Research is delighted to welcome Professor Yoshihiro Kawaoka to the University of Glasgow.

The MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research is delighted to welcome Professor Yoshihiro Kawaoka to Glasgow to receive the annual Sir Michael Stoker award and to present the prize lecture.‌ Professor Yoshihiro Kawaoka tp receive the Sir Michael Stoker award for 2018 and present the prize lecture

Professor Kawaoka, of the University of Wisconsin and the University of Tokyo, will be at the centre on Monday 27 August to give the lecture entitled "Working with deadly viruses: battling Ebola and influenza".

The CVR's early career researchers selected Professor Kawaoka to receive the annual award as a result of his ground-breaking research in the field of Ebola and influenza viruses.

Each year, this special award offers an exciting opportunity for CVR researchers to learn about fascinating research from an inspirational world-leading scientist. The presentation takes place in the McCall lecture theatre at 3pm, followed by a special reception in the Stoker building.
