At home with social science: University of Glasgow visits IKEA

At home with social science: University of Glasgow visits IKEA

Location: IKEA Glasgow, Barrhead, 99 Kings Inch Drive,Glasgow G51 4FB
Date: 4 November 2017
Time: 09:00 - 15:00

Social scientists from the University of Glasgow will be joining the showroom strollers, meatball lovers, marketplace meanderers and bargain corner combers, and injecting a dose of social science into a busy Saturday at Glasgow's IKEA.

There'll be something for everyone in true IKEA style: research-themed activities for young social scientists; an IKEA café takeover, with table-based games, quizzes and interactive exhibits; and researchers dotted around the store. Think sustainable food researchers in the kitchens, and sociologists of dirt in the bathrooms.

We will showcase all of the amazing social science research that is going on right here in the city. So for one Saturday only, make sure that alongside that new colander, picture frame, and set of coloured string lights that you hadn't banked on coming home with, you fill your blue bag with some new ideas too…
