Addressing a large audience in Kelvin Hall lecture theatre, Mr Russell set out his view of the implications of Brexit on higher education – and called for the UK’s devolved governments to have a seat at the table during the Brexit negotiations.

The Minister also used his lecture to argue that the UK Government does not have a mandate for a Hard Brexit in the aftermath of the General Election result, and called on the Prime Minister to "reset the process and substance" of the Brexit negotiations.

Mr Russell’s speech was the latest in a high-profile series of Brexit lectures conducted at the University, which has thus far heard from former EU Ambassador Lord John Kerr and senior German politician David McAllister MEP – and details of upcoming lectures will be announced shortly.
