RSE Royal Medal for Prof Tessa Holyoake

Professor Tessa Holyoake, Director of the Paul O’Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre at UofG, has been named as one of this year’s recipient of a RSE Royal Medal.

‌‌Professor Tessa Holyoake, Director of the Paul O’Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre at UofG, has been named as one of this year’s recipient of a RSE Royal Medal.

Professor Holyoake is being recognised for her outstanding contribution to the field of Life Sciences through her discovery of the existence of cancer stem cells in the chronic myeloid leaukaemia (CML) and her development of a new therapy for this condition

RSE Royal Medals were instituted by Her Majesty The Queen – who is a patron of the RSE – to mark the Millennium and have been awarded since then with her express approval.

These accolades are awarded for distinction and international repute in any of the following categories: Life Sciences; Physical and Engineering Sciences; Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; Business and Commerce.
