First Hunterian Instameet

The Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery held their first Instameet in the Bute Hall on 28 July.

What’s an Instameet?

An Instameet is where people gather in a pre-determined place, at a set time, to take photos then upload them to Instagram.

Exploring the Bute Hall

Nicole Meehan, Head of Education for the Hunterian said: “We currently have an exhibition called Art of Power: Masterpieces from the Bute Collection. At our Instameet, we are exploring some of the connections between that exhibition and the Bute Hall. We invited people, most through social media, to come and explore the space and photograph it in any way they find inspiring.”

About the Bute Hall:
The Bute and Randolph Halls were bulit 1878-1884. They were designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, but he died ssoon after completing his drawings and his plans were executed by his son John Oldrid Scott and Edwin Morgan. The Bute Hall was named for John Patrick Crichton Stuart, 3rd Marquess of Bute, who gifted the funds for its construction.
