In 1957, the University of Glasgow became the first University in Scotland to have an electronic computer, the Digital Electronic Universal Computing Engine (DEUCE).

To mark the 60th anniversary of this event, the School of Computing Science is planning a series of events throughout 2017 that will bring together leading researchers, figures from the School’s past, alumni, students, educators, and industry.

These events encompass the full range of the School’s activities, including education, student entrepreneurship and engagement, scholarship and research.

The events will preserve the history and heritage of computing in Glasgow, and help set directions for future research and education in the School.

Further information on the DEUCE and our anniversary events can be found on the web site: www.glasgow.ac.uk/computing60
