University of Glasgow places in world top 100 in three of five subject areas.

The University of Glasgow has placed in the world top 100 in three out of five broad subject areas in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025, released today (12 March 2025).

The ‘Life Sciences & Medicine’ subject area placed 42nd in the world, while ‘Arts & Humanities’ improved its ranking to 61st and ‘Social Sciences & Management’ placed 95th.

In the two other broad subject areas measured by the QS World Rankings by Subject, ‘Natural Sciences’ and ‘Engineering & Technology’, the University of Glasgow placed 150th and 152nd respectively.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject analyse 1,747 institutions across 55 narrow subjects, condensing these into five broad subject areas.

The University was ranked in 45 out of 55 narrow subjects. Results are available for subjects in which the University was nominated for evaluation in the QS Reputation Survey in which colleagues are asked to submit Academic and Employer Contacts, and have achieved an overall score high enough to qualify for a published rank.
