Over the past three months Glasgow University Sustainable Technology Society (GUSTS) has been working with Multiplex and the University to develop sustainable solutions and opportunities for the new buildings being planned and built on the Western campus.

From the four teams that took part, the ‘Super Modellers’ were awarded first prize for their project designing an energy model for the James McCune Smith Learning Hub.

As an alternative to designing new energy models, teams could also choose to work towards designing a photovoltaic energy proposal for the Research Hub roof, or on the potential impact and solutions of the smart campus.

Each team was paired with a mentor from Multiplex  with additional support from the University and Multiplex supply chain WSP and FES

At the end of the project the groups gave presentations to a panel of assembled expert judges, outlining the scope of the problem and the proposed solution.

All participants received an Amazon voucher, whilst the winning team was given a tour of the SSE Hydro.
