This summer will see a refurbishment which will create the first of a number of modern, flexible teaching spaces.

This summer will see a refurbishment which will create the first of a number of modern, flexible teaching spaces, writes Karen Lee, Estates and Buildings.

‌This development recognises the increasing demand for more flexible and interactive learning environments and acknowledges our strategic aim “to create a world class learning and research environment”.

James Watt South 361 (known as J7) will be transformed in terms of its layout, facilities, audio visual equipment and IT equipment.  It will be a marked departure from our conventional teaching and learning environments.

We expect this new space will enhance both provision and student experience. Once the room is in use, it will be evaluated to ensure our future new build and refurbishment activity is fit for purpose and delivers the very best environment for our staff and students.

Professor Frank Coton, Vice Principal: Learning & Teaching said: “This is breaking new ground for us and will help to shape our thinking as we develop the new Learning and Teaching Hub.  It really marks the beginning of the process of transforming our learning landscape.”

We recognise that some courses/teaching will be more suited to this arrangement than others. Therefore to make best use of the space during the next session, we are keen to ensure it is allocated to those staff and teaching events most able to take advantage of it.

To discuss whether the room is suitable for your class or teaching event please contact the Campus Timetabling Team (CTT) timetabling@glasgow.ac.uk

The room will be available for use from the beginning of the next academic session.
