The University of Glasgow sponsored five Chinese students to attend the Chinese Burns Supper Cocktail Reception hosted by the China-Britain British Council in Edinburgh.

These students were selected due to their excellent achievement in their studies and extra-curriculum activities. They are: Yishu Huang, Tingting Zhang, Wuzhe Lihan , Yun Wang  and Guochen Cui.

During the reception the students has the opportunity to network with members of the business and education community.

They aimed to raise awareness of the availability and skills of Chinese-speaking students in Scotland and how they could help their businesses through short-term paid internships/part-time roles.

Tingting Zhang said: “It was a very good chance for us to expand the social network and expand channels to sell ourselves. The great lesson we have learnt is to have business cards ready. It wouldn't be wrong to be ready for opportunities anytime."

Vice Principal Internationalisation Professor Jim Conroy and International Dean Professor Jane Ducket, along with Professor John Finch, Professor Ian Gow and Professor Kathleen Meehan also attended the event.
