Reclaiming the Piazza

Reclaiming the PiazzaOn Friday September 19, four members of the St. Andrew’s Foundation for Catholic Teacher Education in the School of Education will be in Rome to launch an important new book on Catholic education, writes Dr. Leonardo Franchi. Reclaiming the Piazza: Catholic Education as a Cultural Project (Gracewing), is co-authored by Foundation members Dr. Leonardo Franchi, Dr. Raymond McCluskey and Cav. Ronnie Convery (associate member of the Foundation), with an Afterword by Professor Bob Davis (Head of the School of Education).

The book will be launched at a major international conference on evangelisation which will run from 18-20 September in the Pope Paul VI Auditorium in Vatican City. It is expected that Pope Francis himself will be present at the conference.

The invitation to launch our book at this event is a tremendous honour for the St. Andrew’s Foundation and the University of Glasgow. It consolidates the strong links the University of Glasgow has historically maintained with the Holy See. These links will be further developed in 2015 (February 14) when Archbishop Rino Fisichella (President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting New Evangelisation) will come to the University to give the prestigious Cardinal Winning Lecture.
