The St. Andrew's Foundation

Building on the 1999 agreement between the Catholic Church and the University of Glasgow, the St Andrew’s Foundation will serve as the hub of Catholic teacher education in Scotland and will promote the University’s School of Education as an international centre of excellence in the provision of all aspects of Catholic teacher education. The Foundation's objectives can be found here.

The mission of the St Andrew’s Foundation is grounded in the partnership between the Catholic Church in Scotland, the University of Glasgow and the Scottish Government. This partnership recognises the distinctive nature of Catholic Education and its ongoing contribution to the common good. The St. Andrew’s Foundation will assist the university in meeting its obligations as the sole Scottish provider of teachers educated specifically for work in Catholic schools. It will promote creative cultural partnerships in Scotland and beyond.

The St. Andrew’s Foundation is integral to the School of Education and to the University’s partnership with the Catholic Church in Scotland through the Catholic Education Commission (CEC) and the Scottish Catholic Education Service (SCES).

Details of the launch of the St. Andrew's Foundation on June 14 and 15 2013 can be found here.
