Golden Award of Merit

Dr Elwira Grossman, Stepek Lecturer in Polish and the Comparative Literature Programme Director, has been awarded the Golden Award of Merit from the Republic of Poland.

Congratulations to Dr Elwira Grossman, Stepek Lecturer in Polish and the Comparative Literature Programme Director, who has been awarded the Golden Award of Merit from the Republic of Poland. The award dates back to 1923, with Gold being the highest level attainable. Elwira Grossman

The Principal, Professor Anton Muscatelli congratulated Dr Grossman saying: “It's a wonderful recognition of your contribution to Polish culture”. Professor Murray Pittock Vice-Principal & Head of the College of Arts said: ”Many congratulations on your receipt of a Golden Award of Merit from the Republic of Poland for your services to Polish culture, in recognition of your eighteen years of commitment to Polish studies at the University of Glasgow.”

Dr Grossman said: “I am delighted that my efforts have been recognized and I hope that the support I have received so far will continue.  Polish, being a part of  Slavonic Studies, is a unique offering at GU and I hope it will flourish along with other Slavonic languages for years to come.”
