Reading lists @ Glasgow, the dynamic reading list tool designed to ensure recommended resources are available to students, launched this semester.

Schools including Education, Law and Sociology are using the software for a variety of classes.  There are now over 100 lists available through Reading Lists @ Glasgow and the increased visibility of these lists has allowed the Library to identify teaching materials that were not previously in stock. Since the official launch in May, we have seen a 23% increase this year on Course Materials expenditure in the August-September period against the equivalent period last year. The Reading Lists @ Glasgow team are now taking submissions from academic staff for semester two reading lists. The Library is still offering a list creation service for those with existing reading lists who would like them transferred onto Reading Lists @ Glasgow.

Contact Library-readinglists@glasgow.ac.uk with your list.  Please include the following information with the reading list:

  • Anticipated student numbers
  • Course code (e.g. ASTRO3012)
  • Clear indication of any essential items for the short loan collection
  • Any digitisation requests

If staff are interested in using the software themselves please contact Library-Readinglists@glasgow.ac.uk in the first instance. Training and support are always available and tailored to meet the needs of the individual or school.
