The University is developing its response to the Public Sector Equality Duty which came into force in May 2012.

The University is developing its response to the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED), which came into force in May 2012. This Duty, applicable to all public authorities, has eight components:

  • publish equality outcomes by the 30 April 2013 and report progress every two years: these are statements of what we want to achieve
  • report on mainstreaming the equality duty by the 30 April 2013, and thereafter every two years: this is how we embed equality in all we do
  • assess and review policies and practices, ongoing
  • gather and use employee information, and publish in the mainstreaming report (if not published elsewhere)
  • publish gender pay gap information by the 30 April 2013 and report progress every two years
  • publish statements on equal pay by the 30 April 2013, and at four year intervals
  • consider award criteria and conditions in relation to public procurement – making sure our suppliers are also compliant
  • publish in a manner that is accessible.

The Equality and Diversity Unit is seeking views and feedback on the University's proposed response to the PSED – the document outlining our response is available below. The University would specifically like to hear views on the proposed equality outcomes for staff and students.

All responses should be sent to equality@glasgow.ac.uk by the close of business on 2 April 2013.
