A Memorial Service and Tribute to the late Professor Archie Roy, who passed away on Dec 27th 2012 aged 88, will be held in Glasgow University Chapel on Thursday March 14 at 14.30.  The Service will be followed by a reception in Hunter Hall West, from 15.30-17.00.

Professor Roy first joined the Astronomy Department in 1958 and would go on to serve the University with great distinction over a long and successful career as one of Scotland's leading astronomers. He was also a gifted writer (publishing 30 books that included six novels and more than 70 scientific papers) and an inspirational teacher. His academic interests were wide and varied, ranging from archeo-astronomy to psychic phenomena. Over an incredibly productive and diverse life he had countless friends, colleagues, students, advisees, followers and admirers who were inspired by him.  All are welcome to join us for the Memorial Service and reception, to pay their last respects and to celebrate his life.
