Photo competition set to showcase Science and Engineering research

Enter the College of Science and Engineering's Technical Photography contest in a bid to win an iPad 2.

Shutterbug scientists are being encouraged to submit interesting, unusual or otherwise noteworthy images to a College of Science and Engineering photography competition.

Academic staff, research associates and postgraduate students are eligible for entry to the College’s Technical Photography contest. The researcher who submits the image the judging panel feels best communicates the impact and importance of their research to a non-specialist audience will win an iPad 2.

Entrants must provide a title and a short caption of 50 words or less explaining the context of the image, along with details of whether the photo is an original image, a composite of several images or in some other way manipulated.

 

The copyright of the entire image before and after manipulation must be held by the entrant or the entrant must have written authority of the copyright owner to submit the photograph for the competition. Each entrant must also include a properly-completed version of the following statement in their entry message:

I have confirmed, or checked with my supervisor/DoS (for all RA/students) __________________ that I have permission to enter the attached photograph(s) in the competition and give the College of Science and Engineering the right to publish the photograph(s) on its website and elsewhere.

The images will be showcased on a specially-created section of the University website and may be offered to the media.
