33Fifty, a key Commonwealth Games Legacy 2014 programme, has been officially launched by Shona Robison MSP, Minister for Commonwealth Games and Sport. The University of Glasgow says it is proud to be co-sponsoring this event, alongside the Scottish Government, the University of Edinburgh, The Weir Group PLC and De La Rue PLC. The programme will be delivered by the Royal Commonwealth Society and Common Purpose, an independent, international leadership development organisation. Shona Robison

The programme will offer 100 people, aged between 18 and 25, who exhibit the skills and aptitude to make a difference to the Commonwealth and its citizens, a world-class development opportunity during the 2014 Commonwealth Games. 33Fifty is so named because 33% of the world’s population lives in the Commonwealth and 50% of those are under 25. The 100 participants will begin their programme in July 2014 with two days at the University of Glasgow, where they will participate in a range of seminars, masterclasses and workshops on power and collaboration in the city through visits to organisations across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.

On the final day of the programme the participants will present their responses to the challenge to Commonwealth Sports Ministers, International Development Ministers or Heads of State who will be gathered for the Commonwealth Games.
