Christine Barr appointed HR Director

Christine Barr has been appointed as Director of Human Resources with effect from 2 December 2013. Secretary of Court, David Newall, described her as "a driving force for progress".

Christine has an MSc in Human Resource Management and is professionally qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Personnel & Development.   She began her HR career in the private sector, having worked in various areas including manufacturing and the water industry. 

She has spent a significant part of her career in Education, initially in FE, prior to joining the University of Glasgow. Christine has been Deputy Director of Human Resources since August 2010 and is well known throughout the University having led a number of HR strategic initiatives.

Christine said "I'm very much looking forward to this new role, leading Human Resources and continuing to work with the Principal, SMG and other colleagues in the wider staff community in achieving the University's ambitions".

David Newall, Secretary of Court, said: "In recent years Christine has been the driving force behind the progress the University has made in areas such as pay structures, career development and performance management. She has given tremendous service in her 14 years at the University, and I am delighted that she has agreed to take on the role of HR Director."
