Erasmus Staff Mobility funding is now available for 2013-14, with opportunities available across Europe for training for all staff and teaching in partner universities for academic staff

Erasmus Staff Mobility funding is now available for 2013-14, with opportunities available across Europe for training for all staff and teaching in partner universities for academic staff.

24 Erasmus Staff mobility applications were approved in 2012-13, resulting in staff visiting 17 universities across Europe. Luis Gomes, Mobility Coordinator for the College of Arts, who visited the University of Granada last academic year, said: "I would recommend that all staff participate in such experiences as it allows one to see how other institutions manage their programmes, and learn from best practice. It is also useful to allow us to understand other cultures and be better citizens for it."

In addition to the direct professional and personal development connected to international mobility, further benefits reported by 2012-13 teaching participants included:

  • Strengthening of partner relations ahead of Erasmus agreement review, and renewals for the Erasmus+ programme in 2014
  • Building relations for future academic collaborations and on-going joint research projects
  • Gaining new ideas for research and the course syllabus
  • Meeting with current University of Glasgow students on Erasmus exchange at the partner university
  • Developing new teaching material for future courses at Glasgow
  • Promoting the University of Glasgow to potential European postgraduate students

Teaching and non-teaching staff are also eligible to apply for Erasmus training funding, which includes short secondments, training courses, seminars and job shadows.
