2012-13 Erasmus Staff Teaching Mobility Funding (teaching staff)
Aims: to give academic staff the opportunity to spend a teaching period in a partner university in another participating country in order to:
- Develop broaden and enrich the range and content of courses they offer;
- To allow students who do not have the possibility to participate in a mobility scheme to benefit from the knowledge and expertise of academic staff from higher education institutions in other European countries;
- To promote exchange of expertise and experience on pedagogical methods;
- To create links between higher education institutions and with enterprises.
Activities: The partner universities must agree in advance the teaching programme to be delivered by the visiting teacher. Priority should be given to mobility activities which:
- Ensure that the visiting teacher's contributions will be an integral part of a diploma/degree programme of the host institution;
- Will lead to the production of new teaching material;
- Will be used to consolidate and extend links between Schools and Colleges and to prepare future co-operation projects.
To ensure the participation of the greatest possible number of teachers, priority shall be given to teachers going abroad for the first time.
The selection of teachers should be based on a short Teaching Programme submitted by the teacher. The essential elements of this should be: objectives and added value of the mobility, content of the teaching programme, expected results. The partner HEIs must agree the visiting teacher’s teaching programme in advance.
Where: an HEI which holds a standard Erasmus University Charter, with a valid Inter-institutional Agreement with your subject at the University of Glasgow.
Duration of teaching: Staff must deliver at least 5 hours of teaching (i.e. at least one day). The expected minimum duration is 5 working days to provide a meaningful contribution to the teaching programme and international academic life at the host HEI. Shorter periods must be exceptional. The maximum duration is 6 weeks.
Funding: Mobility grants for staff are provided as contributions towards subsistence and travel. Both travel and subsistence costs are calculated on the basis of receipted expenditure, not to exceed the maximum allowable amounts. A maximum of €500 is available towards travel costs to and from the partner institution. Maximum amounts available towards subsistence (including accommodation) vary according to the length and destination of the visit, please see the British Council subsistence rates 13-14.
Costs should be claimed using the University's current standard expenses claim form. All expenses, including travel and subsistence, are receipted and all original receipts must be provided. Expenses claim forms must be submitted within 1 month of the completion of the mobility.
Erasmus Documentation: Staff whose applications are successful must complete required Erasmus documentation.
Prior to departure: Applicants must submit a Teaching Programme which has been endorsed by both Glasgow and the host institution or enterprise in advance of the mobility. A Teaching Mobility contract should also be completed.
