Students warned of 'scam' job offers

As an outcome of recent attempts to lure students with scam job opportunities, Student Services and other University services are working to highlight the dangers of these fraudulent and misleading job offers.

As an outcome of recent attempts to lure students with scam job opportunities, Student Services and other University teams are working to highlight the dangers of these fraudulent and misleading job offers.

Information is being offered online offering guidance on how students can spot scam jobs and stay safe in the job market: www.glasgow.ac.uk/careers/work/rights, selecting the third tab, ‘Spotting scam jobs’.

The advice is also being issued using many of the social media channels. The core message to students is: “Don’t get caught out, find out how to avoid falling victim to employment scams."

It appears criminals have been trying to use higher education jobs websites to insert bogus vacancies with the intention of luring young people to give up personal banking information.
