University academic appointed to high-profile cultural roles

Philip Schlesinger, Professor of Cultural Policy in Theatre and Director of the Centre for Cultural Policy Research has been appointed to two high profile roles

Philip Schlesinger, Professor of Cultural Policy in Theatre and Director of the Centre for Cultural Policy Research, has been appointed Visiting Professor in the Department of History and Political Science at LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome.

LUISS is considered the leading university for the study of social sciences in Rome and aims for the highest levels of distinction in the development and transmission of scientific, technological, and classical knowledge and understanding. Prof Schlesinger will begin teaching there this autumn.

In addition to this, Prof Schlesinger has been reappointed as Ofcom’s Chairman of the Advisory Committee for Scotland. Ofcom is the UK’s communications regulator, the organisation has a remit to the interests of citizens and consumers by promoting competition and protecting consumer from what might be deemed harmful or offensive material.
