Moodle app

From Wednesday 15 October 2025, the University will modify our Moodle so that it can no longer connect with the Moodle app available from Google Play and the App store. The Moodle app is provided by Moodle and is not supported by the University due to the functional and user experience constraints below.
To fully access all features available on mobile devices, we recommend logging in to Moodle via a web browser and saving to your devices home screen
Features not available on the app
- Student MyGrades
 - Alternative formats tool
 - UofG accessibility tool

Issues with using the app
Submitting work and Grades information
Submission of work
- Students are not able to submit work using Turnitin due to the inability to sign into the Turnitin end-user license agreement (EULA).
 - A pop up appears on the screen asking: Are you enjoying our app?. This is not a UofG prompt and any responses are not fed back to us. We may miss valid comments or complaints.

Viewing grades and Gradebook data
- This screen has been identified as problematic and misleading for students due to some of the data fields being displayed (i.e., Contribution to course total)
 - This same issue appears in Moodle (web version) where the grades being presented in Gradebook may differ from those that are displayed to students on MyGrades (which is not available in the app)

Site Level Grades option
- This information is confusing, as a value is presented for each course. This is the Grades Overview page which can be accessed from a student's profile on Moodle (web version).

App navigation and settings
- The top of the landing page shows staff training information, which is of no use to students. Overall the navigation for students is not user friendly or intuitive.
 - The buttons being displayed aren't intuitively placed on the screen. For example, the declaration for a Moodle assignment is placed halfway up the screen.

Global search option
- This global search function, which is located within the settings, doesn't work. It displays the following: Error connecting to the server: Timeout has occurred.

Site subscription option
- This option, which is located in the settings, shows subscription plan information that is not relevant to students or staff
