What is EZProxy? 

EZProxy facilitates secure off-campus access to our licensed electronic resources.

You may have noticed https://ezproxy.lib.gla.ac.uk appearing at the start of links to Library resources. This domain will be retired on 1 October as part of a move to a more resilient and sustainable cloud-hosted service.

From 1 October, links containing https://ezproxy.lib.gla.ac.uk will no longer work, and all links need to be updated to the new domain, https://login.uofglasgow.idm.oclc.org. 

Action required: review your saved links

All Library records, including reading list links, have been updated with the new domain, https://login.uofglasgow.idm.oclc.org, but you may have some links still in use.

Please check:

  • Bookmarks
  • Saved favourites
  • Online learning materials
  • Web pages
  • Course documentation

Review and update any links that still contain the legacy EZProxy domain, replacing the old EZProxy domain (https://ezproxy.lib.gla.ac.uk) with the new domain (https://login.uofglasgow.idm.oclc.org) 

For example: 

https://ezproxy.lib.gla.ac.uk/login?url=https://www.degruyterbrill.com/openurl?genre=book&isbn=9780300263107 

Should be 

https://login.uofglasgow.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://www.degruyterbrill.com/openurl?genre=book&isbn=9780300263107 

Reference Management Software 

Reference management software applications, such as EndNote, Zotero, Mendeley and similar, can be configured to automatically use an institutional EZProxy server when connecting users with full-text resources. If your software is still configured to use the legacy EZProxy domain (ezproxy.lib.gla.ac.uk), links generated from your references may direct students and colleagues to the service that is to be retired.  

If you use any of the software mentioned, we ask that you review your settings and, where applicable, update any EZProxy configuration to use the new Hosted EZProxy domain (uofglasgow.idm.oclc.org) to ensure continued access to library e-resources. 

Why is this important? 

If links continue to point to the old EZProxy service:

  • Users may be unable to access subscribed library resources.
  • Students may encounter broken links in learning materials.
  • Course resources, web content, and bookmarked links may fail unexpectedly.
  • Additional support requests and disruption to teaching and learning may result.
