Alternative Formats Service receives long-term funding

The Alternative Formats Service, which provides library resources to print disabled students and staff, is now a fully-fledged Library service.
We are happy to report that the Alternative Formats Service, which provides library resources and materials to print disabled students and staff, has successfully progressed from its origins as a Student Experience Strategy project and is now a fully-fledged Library service, after the final report was presented to its delivery board last week.
Although this won’t affect how the service works, it is important to share the news and celebrate the hard work of colleagues, including our expert colleagues in the Alternative Formats team, the College Librarians and the Scan and Send Team, who have all greatly contributed to the success of the service.
The work of the Alternative Formats Service now begins to expand beyond basic service delivery. This includes:
- auditing our materials vendors and publishers against accessibility criteria
- developing user testing protocols
- collaborating with colleagues in the School of Mathematics & Statistics to improve the accessibility of equations.
Thanks to everyone who has supported the Service during its project phase!
