The University of Glasgow Library is now welcoming applications for our 2026 Visiting Research Fellowship scheme.
We invite scholars from around the world to undertake original research using our internationally significant collections.
The Library offers a rich environment for exploration, with holdings that include:
- Illuminated medieval and Renaissance manuscripts
- Over 10,000 early printed books (pre-1601)
- Extensive collections in art, literature, and the performing arts
- The University’s institutional archive, dating back to the 13th century
- The Scottish Business Archive, comprising over 400 collections, from the 18th century to the present day
Fellowships are competitive and peer-assessed, providing financial support of up to £2,500 for travel and accommodation. Successful applicants will spend two to four weeks in Glasgow over the course of a year, engaging deeply with our collections.
We particularly welcome proposals that demonstrate innovative approaches and contribute new insights to their field. Up to three Fellowships are funded by the William Lind Foundation to support research into Scottish business history. All other topics are open for applicants to define.
Fellows will benefit from library membership, access to specialist staff support, and a vibrant and welcoming research community.
