William Hunter (1718-1783), physician and anatomist:  purchased by Hunter at the above anonymous auction sale for £3.13.6 according to the annotated BL copy of the sale catalogue - shelfmark S.C.S. 12(2).
University of Glasgow:  Hunterian bequest, 1807;  Hunterian Museum bookplate on front pastedown, with former shelfmark “B.8.21”.
Binding: 18th-century red goatskin decorated with triple gold fillets, a small gold fleuron at each corner;  gold-tooled spine;  marbled endpapers;  gilt-edged leaves;  green silk bookmark.   Size:  298 x 202 mm.
Leaf size: 291 x 194 mm.
Annotations: Lengthy marginal note on a2r but so washed out as to be illegible even under ultraviolet lamp;  inventory or catalogue number “1260” written in black ink on verso of free front endpaper.
Decoration: None.
Imperfections: Wanting the blank leaf p6.
