| Provenance: | Gilbert Skene (1522?-1599), Professor of Medicine, King’s College, Aberdeen, and physician to James VI of Scotland - possible owner: inscription “Skeneus Medicus” written on the title-page of another incunable edition of the Regimen sanitatis of Magninus ([Paris:] Félix Baligault, for Claude Jaumar & Thomas Julian, [ca. June 1500] i.e. ISTC im00055000), which has been mounted on a blank sheet of paper and inserted before leaf a1 (the insertion of this sheet post dates the marginal wormhole present in the first half of the book); for an identical provenance see National Library of Medicine, Bethesda, MS 29, which is a late 15th-century manuscript of the Regimen sanitatis of Magninus (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nlmcatalog/100899922). Sir John Skene (ca. 1540-1617), of Curriehill, Lord Clerk Register of Scotland - possible owner: inscription on the inserted printed title-page “Joannes Skene Cl[ericu]s Reg[ist]ri”.
