John Ferguson (1837-1916), Professor of Chemistry, University of Glasgow:  Ferguson’s pencil note of his supplier on rear pastedown “W. Voynich.   This was sent to me this morning on approval by W.V.   As soon as I saw it I recognized it by its binding & especially by the stained yellow cloth sides as coming from the same collection as that to which belonged my copy of R. Bacon’s ‘De Arte Chymiae Scripta’, got from John Wilson more than 30 years ago - the binding is identical!  This is the Leipzig edition 1495 which I have not had till now.”;   further acquisition details on verso of front free endpaper “JF 9 Dec. 1905  Very rare - a very great prize not seen by Hain, No 14553”.
