Binding: England, 19th-century half green goatskin, marbled boards;  gold-tooled spine;  gilt-edged leaves;  binder’s stamp on verso of front free endpaper “Bound by Riviere & Son”.   Size:  196 x 144 mm.
Leaf size: 192 x 137 mm.
Annotations: Illegible, erased pencil inscription on a1r (title-page).
Decoration: Initials supplied in red throughout, some with reserved white and many with marginal flourishing;  capital strokes supplied in red throughout.

Binding: 20th-century dark green buckram with gilt stamp of Glasgow College Library, modern endpapers (earlier front pastedown and front free endpaper now preserved as flyleaves);  green-edged leaves.   Size:  199 x 143 mm.

Annotations: Frequent marginal annotations in various 16th-century hands;  on a1r (title-page) in top right hand corner the number “1.” in ink;  on verso of original front free endpaper “BL 4058” in pencil;  on f6r a pencil number “998/22” – probably relating to the rebinding of the book.
Decoration: Initials supplied in red (many with reserved white);  paragraph marks, underlining and capital strokes supplied in red throughout.
