Though ascribed to Johannes XXI, Pont. Max. (formerly Petrus Hispanus) and so entered by many incunable authorities, the authorship of the commentaries is ascribed to Lambertus de Monte.

Binding: 16th-century undecorated calf over wooden boards;  volume restored and rebacked ca. 1985 by Ian Maver (restoration binder, Special Collections Department, University of Glasgow Library), and given new endpapers and flyleaves;  original spine covering and much of original rear cover lost;  original rear pastedown put back;  an unidentified hand-coloured woodcut of the Annunciation, formerly pasted onto the inside of the front board, is preserved separately;  a single missing clasp replaced with a modern brass clasp (catch plate on front board).   Now housed in a maroon buckram-covered box.   Size:  219 x 143 mm.
Leaf size: 205 x 137 mm.
Annotations: Lengthy marginal annotations in a 16th-century hand on b4v, c4r and p5v;  occasional brief marginal annotations elsewhere, together with underlining and nota marks;  unread early annotation on rear pastedown;  erased (ownership?) inscriptions on a1r and a1v (illegible under ultraviolet light).
Decoration: Woodcut initial “C” on a2r and woodcut initial “C” on mm1r are both hand-coloured;  woodcuts on e7v, h6v, k2r, m5v and aa1r are all hand-coloured;  ten-line initial “C” on B2r supplied in faded red ink.
Imperfections: Wanting the bifolia O1.8 and O2.7.
