Binding: France, 18th-century red goatskin;  covers decorated with a triple gold-fillet border, a small gold fleuron at each corner;  gold-tooled spine;  marbled endpapers;  gilt-edged leaves;  turquoise silk bookmark.   Size:  210 x 141 mm. 
Leaf size: 204 x 135 mm.
Annotations: Heavily deleted early ownership inscription on 20/8r (f. 160r) beginning ‘Iste l[i]b[er] ...’;  single marginal keyword on 6/7r (f. 47r);  evidence of early foliation and running book numbers (many cropped);  recto leaves 1/2-4 have signature ‘a’ in upper right hand corner;  on 1/1r is a list in a 17th-century hand of books 1-7 with references to the manuscript foliation described above;  number resembling ‘2C’ (a shelfmark?) in an early hand on 1/1v;  numbers ‘160, 20’ in a later hand also on 1/1v;  pencil number ‘12’ on 1/2r.
Decoration: Three-line initial “V” in col. 1 of 1/2r supplied in blue and embellished with now heavily faded pen-work decoration extending into inner margin;  six-line initial “D” in col. 2 of 1/2v supplied in crimson, pink, blue and green on a square gold ground, with floral decoration extending into the centre margin;  other initials and paragraph marks supplied in alternate red and blue throughout, some of the paragraph marks having additional pen-flourishing extending into the margin.
