Note: The top margins of all leaves in quires 1-2 appear at some point to have been excessively trimmed and have been remargined;  text of final leaf mounted.
Note: The final leaf of quire 23, comprising eleven lines of text, is mounted on paper with vertical chain lines and with a watermark of a fleur-de-lys above a cartouche enclosing the letters “A” and “R” separated by a heart.

Binding: France, 18th-century red goatskin;  covers decorated with a triple gold-fillet border, a small gold fleuron at each corner;  gold-tooled spine;  marbled endpapers;  gilt-edged leaves;  green silk bookmark;  first front flyleaf has watermark “I MAURENSANE || LIMOSIN FIN”.  Size:  215 x 148 mm.
Leaf size: 208 x 142 mm.
Annotations: Occasional corrections of text in an early hand;  number “1137” in ink in an 18th-century hand on verso of front free endpaper.
Decoration: A four-line initial “Q” on 1/1r is supplied in red and blue with reserved white and embellished with red and blue pen-work decoration which extends into the inner margin (all heavily washed);  a similarly decorated four-line initial “A” is supplied on 2/1r (f. 5r);  other initials supplied in red (occasionally in blue) together with paragraph marks in red or blue in quires 1-7;  thereafter only guide-letters in brown ink are present.
Imperfections: Wanting 16/χ1.
