William Hunter (1718-1783), physician and anatomist:  purchased by Hunter at the Smith sale for £2.15.0 according to the annotated British Library copy of the Smith sale catalogue - shelfmark S.C.S. 8(7).
University of Glasgow:  Hunterian bequest 1807;  Hunterian Museum bookplate on front pastedown, with former shelfmark “L.4.8”, overlaying an earlier bookplate - probably that of Joseph Smith.
Binding: Italy, 18th-century parchment;  green leather title label;  sprinkled red-edged leaves;  green silk bookmark.  Size:  243 x 172 mm.

Annotations: Copious marginal annotations in a humanist hand, all much washed out;  occasional interlinear corrections;  running book numbers “P[ri]muſ” - “Quartuſ” on recto leaves;  title “hys Florj” on 1/1r;  washed-out and unread ownership(?) inscription on 1/2v;  monetary calculations in ink in lower margin of 2/3r (f. 5r);  unread early annotation in lower inner corner of 11/6v (f. 80v).
Decoration: Small initial “P” supplied in brown ink on 2/1r (f. 3r).
Imperfections: Wanting 6/1 (f. 35).
