Binding: France, 18th-century red goatskin;  covers decorated with a triple gold-fillet border, a small gold fleuron at each corner;  gold-tooled spine;  marbled endpapers;  marbled-edged leaves with gilt overlay.  Size:  295 x 203 mm.
Leaf size: 288 x 194 mm.
Annotations: Frequent marginalia in a humanist hand (mainly extracting keywords), generally in brown ink but occasionally in red;  occasional corrections of text in a different hand;  chapter headings added in crimson ink in a humanist hand;  the same hand has supplied running book numbers and a foliation in arabic numerals “2”-“149” from 1/3 to 15/8;  18th-century shelf-mark "f3" in blue crayon on front free endpaper.

William Euing (1788-1874), insurance broker, Glasgow:  purchased from Willis 4 May 1857 according to Euing’s pencil acquisition note and price code on front pastedown “4. 5. 57 ka/- Willis”;  Euing’s inventory numbers “No 54” and “109 old sheets” on front pastedown, the former matching the entry in Euing's acquisitions inventory (University of Glasgow Library, MS Euing 49).
Free Church College Library, Glasgow (later Trinity College Library), founded 1856:  presented by Euing to the Free Church College Library, April 1867 (see GUL MS Euing 50);  oval embossed ownership stamp “Free Church College Library, Glasgow” on 1/2r;  various Trinity College Library shelfmarks on front pastedown and on front free endpaper “20/1”, “21/2”, “40 B/4”.
University of Glasgow:  Trinity College Library placed on permanent deposit in University of Glasgow Library in 1974 by the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.
Binding: Germany, 16th-century wooden boards backed with pigskin, the leather decorated with fillets and a fleur-de-lys tool;  traces of a title written in ink on front board;  evidence of two now missing fore-edge clasps;  volume probably repaired in the 18th/19th century - from combined evidence of cropping of marginalia, dull yellow edging of leaves, red leather title label on spine, and addition of paper pastedowns and endpapers;  manuscript offsetting on 15/8v (f. 150v) suggests the volume originally had parchment manuscript pastedowns.  Size:  300 x 213 mm.
Leaf size: 289 x 204 mm.
Annotations: Frequent marginal annotations in a 16th-century hand (many slightly cropped);  occasional nota marks and manicules;  intermittent foliation in an 18th/19th-century hand;  on 15/8v (f. 150v) beneath the colophon is a six-line textual annotation in Latin and Greek containing the date 1511.
Decoration: An eight-line initial “E” on 1/2r is supplied in shades of blue with added white decoration and is set on a rectangular green ground from which floral decoration extends into the inner and upper margin;  other initials supplied throughout in red;  guide-letters in brown ink visible throughout;  capital strokes in red.
