William Euing (1788-1874), insurance broker, Glasgow:  purchased 21 July 1846 according to Euing’s pencil acquisition note with price code on second front flyleaf “21 7 46 a/f”;  an early Euing inventory number “40” in pencil on verso of front free endpaper;  source unknown.
University of Glasgow:  presented by Euing in 1872 according to University Library bookplate on front pastedown.
Binding: Scotland, 19th-century dark brown grained goatskin;  covers decorated with a double gold-fillet border;  gilt spine title;  marbled endpapers;  top edge gilt;  pale blue silk bookmark;  binder’s ticket on verso of front free endpaper “Bound by Carss & Coy. Glasgow”.  Size:  205 x 147 mm.
Leaf size: 201 x 141 mm.
Annotations: Lengthy inscription in German on a1r and frequent marginal annotations in German in the same 17th-century hand - mainly in black ink, occasionally in faded red;  “ih[esu]s” written in top margins of a1r and a3r;  pencil number “5/292” on second front flyleaf - probably the binder’s job number.
