William Hunter (1718-1783), physician and anatomist:  purchased by Hunter for £3.15.0 according to the annotated copy of the West sale catalogue in University of Glasgow Library (shelfmark Mu31-a.9).

Binding: England, 18th-century calf;  covers decorated with a double gold-fillet border;  rebacked in the 19th/20th century (original spine covering unrecorded);  red-edged leaves;  flyleaves have a “pot” watermark containing the initials “G D” and surmounted by flowers and a crescent with horns turned upwards (see Heawood 3624 for a similar watermark but with different initials).  Size:  274 x 197 mm.
Leaf size: 268 x 191 mm.
Annotations: Occasional marginal and interlinear annotations (often cropped) in English and in Latin in 16th-century hands;  occasional underlining and manicules;  the word “pope” has been struck through on b1v, n2v, n5v and n6v, likewise “ſeynt Thomas” on g4v;  pen trials on πa2r;  ten-line recipe “for the canker” in a 16th-century hand on I7v;  18th-century price “2-2-0” in pencil and initial “D” in red crayon on front free endpaper.
Decoration: None.
Imperfections: Wanting leaves m8 and I8 (the latter containing Pynson’s device), and the blank leaves πa1 and a1.
