Binding: France, 18th-century blue goatskin;  covers decorated with a triple gold-fillet border, a small gold fleuron at each corner;  gold-tooled spine;  marbled endpapers;  gilt-edged leaves;  red silk bookmark.   Size:  208 x 142 mm.
Leaf size: 203 x 135 mm.
Annotations: Many early marginal nota marks, all washed out.
Decoration: Initials supplied in red or blue(?), a few with pen-flourishing and all washed out, with considerable bleeding onto facing page;  paragraph marks supplied in red or blue(?), also washed out.
Imperfections: Wanting 1/3 and the blank leaves 1/1 and 5/8.
