William Hunter (1718-1783), physician and anatomist:  purchased by Hunter at the Smith sale for £2.2.0 according to the annotated BL copy of the Smith sale catalogue - shelfmark S.C.S. 8(7).
University of Glasgow:  Hunterian bequest 1807;  Hunterian Museum bookplate and book label on front pastedown, with former shelfmark “X.3.4”, overlaying an earlier bookplate - almost certainly that of Joseph Smith.
Binding: Italy, 18th-century parchment;  green leather title label;  sprinkled red-edged leaves.   Size:  285 x 206 mm.

Annotations: Occasional marginal annotations in a humanist hand;  catchwords visible on the final verso of most gatherings;  early foliation and chapter numbering.
