Variant: Setting of leaves p4v and p5v agrees with the main transcription given in GW 5871, and not the variant described in GW Anm. 2;  final line of p5r reads "FINI." not "FINIS." or "EINIS."
Provenance: William Pickering (1796-1854), bookseller and publisher, London:  lot 645 (“Caesaris Commentaria, vellum, wormed Venet. per Philippum de Pinciis Mantuanum, 1494”) in 'Catalogue of the third portion of the extensive collection of valuable books formed by Mr. William Pickering', (London:  Sotheby & Wilkinson, Oct. 1854);  sold for £2.2.0 to the bookseller, William Straker, according to the annotated copy of the Pickering sale catalogue in University of Glasgow Library (shelfmark BD17-h.30).

William Euing (1788-1874), insurance broker, Glasgow:  Euing’s pencil acquisition note on verso of front free endpaper “31.10.54 No 645 Pick”;  Euing's price code "db/" and inventory number "124" also on front free endpaper, both in pencil.

Annotations: Very occasional marginal annotations in a 16th-century hand, “nota” marks, underlining, paragraph marks and manicules;  various 19th-century numbers and codes in pencil on verso of front free endpaper “f30”, “3639/C.6”(?);  19th-century price in pencil “£1.11.6” on front flyleaf;  number “25 f” in ink on rear free endpaper.
Decoration: Title on a1r enclosed within crude pen-and ink scroll;  crude pen-work added to woodcut initial “G” on a2r.
Imperfections: Wormholes throughout - affecting the occasional word or letter.
