Binding: France, 18th-century red goatskin decorated with triple gold fillets, a small gold fleuron at each corner;  gold-tooled spine;  marbled endpapers, gilt-edged leaves;  turquoise silk bookmark.   Size:  302 x 218 mm.
Leaf size: 291 x 209 mm.
Annotations: Frequent early marginal annotations (most so heavily washed as to be illegible);  vestiges of early signatures;  evidence of an early foliation in centre of upper margin (mostly cropped);  early manuscript catchwords e.g. on 14/10v (f. 136v) - but most so heavily washed as to be illegible;  gatherings numbered “1”-“27” in pencil in an 18th-century hand in extreme left-hand corners of upper and lower margins of first recto leaf.
Decoration: Initials and paragraph marks supplied in red throughout;  capitals washed in yellow throughout.
Imperfections: None.
