Binding: 15th/16th-century blind-tooled calf over wooden boards;  front cover decorated with intersecting quadruple fillets to form a centre panel bordered by two frames;  the panel is divided by quaduple fillets into lozenge-shaped compartments, each decorated with a lozenge-shaped double fleur-de-lys stamp;  the inner frame is decorated with a scroll bearing the lettering ‘+INRI+’;  the outer frame is decorated with a five-petalled flower stamp;  the rear cover has an identical design, except for the inner frame which is decorated with a rectangular stamp divided from corner to corner to form four triangles, each containing a section of a flower head;  evidence of four bosses and a centre-piece on both boards, and of two clasps - all now lost;  spine undecorated except for the number ‘2’ which has been added in gilt in the 19th century.   Size: 415 × 300 mm.
Leaf size: 403 x 294 mm.
Annotations: Signatures in a 15th/16th-century hand;  invocation “Jesus + Maria + Franciscus” in a 16th-century hand on rear pastedown;  bound in at the front are four leaves of manuscript text written in two columns in a 15th-century hand on paper, the text consisting of prologues and variant prologues to the Minor Prophets, the Book of Maccabees, the Gospels, and the Apocalypse;  a small paper insert containing a manuscript prologue to the Book of Wisdom bound-in between 26/3 and 26/4 (ff. 263 and 264);  a similar manuscript insert on paper containing a prologue to Hosea bound-in between 35/8 and 35/9 (ff. 360 and 361).
Decoration: Six-line initial “P” on 25/1r (f. 251r) supplied in red and green with reserved white and with decorative red pen-work added;  other principal initials throughout are supplied in red and green with reserved white, in blue and green with reserved white, or in red and blue with reserved white;  smaller initials throughout supplied in red or blue and occasionally in green;  capitals washed in yellow throughout;  running headings in red “para || bole” - “Apoca || lipſis”;  incipits, explicits and chapter numbers added in red;  the same hand is responsible for decorative initials, capital strokes, incipits and explicits in the manuscript text inserted at the front of the book (see Annotations).
Imperfections: Volume 2 only of two volumes.   Wanting all before Proverbs i.e. quires 1-24 (ff. 1-250), and the final two blank leaves 48/7-8 (ff. 496-7).
