Binding: 17th-century parchment with fore-edge cover extensions;  19th-century gold-tooled brown leather title label added to spine;  19th-century endpapers;  sprinkled red-edged leaves.   Size:  260 x 196 mm.

Annotations: Largely unread (possible provenance) inscription in Dutch containing date 1555 on aa2r;  running book numbers “i”-“xx” added in an early hand, superseded (and sometimes obliterated) by running book numbers in Dutch in the form “tweede boeck” (starting at book 1 and ending at book 10);  occasional 17th-century inscriptions in Dutch e.g. on CC2v;  signature errors in quires t and Q corrected in an early hand;  pagination “1”-“410” added in an 18th-century hand starting at a2v and ending on y7r;  19th-century price code in pencil “ak/n/-” on rear pastedown;  19th-century pencil number “464” and price(?) code “ai ne” on EE7v.
Decoration: Some initials supplied in brown ink in quires a-n in absence of printed guide-letters;  capital strokes and underlining in red throughout (many capitals also washed in yellow);  a few woodcuts sparsely coloured in red or in yellow;  arms, lightly sketched in ink (quarterly per cross, in first and fourth a bird, in second and third a saltire), added to blank shield of woodcut printer’s device on EE7r.
Imperfections: Wanting the blank leaves aa1 and EE8.
