Provenance:	Giovanini (Italy, 16th century):  inscription on 15/8v (f.148v) “Per Giouanini mio nipote dopo la morte della madre” followed in the same hand by a cropped list of fourteen items. Louis Jean Gaignat (1697-1768), Secretary to King Louis XV:  Gaignat sale, 1769;  lot 1625 in Guillaume de Bure, 'Bibliographie instructive:  supplément ... ou catalogue des livres de feu M. L.J. Gaignat', 2 vols (Paris:  1769). William Hunter (1718-1783), physician and anatomist:  purchased by Hunter at the Gaignat sale through his agent, Jean-Baptiste Dessain, for 18 livres 16 sous;  see 'Dessain-Hunter correspondence' (University of Glasgow Library, MS Gen. 36, f.24r). Annotations:	Frequent underlining and marginal annotations (mainly extracting keywords) in brown ink in a humanist hand from 11/6v-12/4r (ff.106v-114r);  traces of heavily washed-out marginal annotations, probably in the same hand, in the early gatherings.
