Provenance: Unidentified Italian owner (16th century):  book-stamp on 1/1r depicting six mountains surmounted by a patriarchal cross, a crown and two palm leaves.
Richard Mead (1673-1754) M.D.:  Mead’s shelfmark in ink “Nn,1,,7” on front free endpaper;  lot 710, p. 73 (7 Dec. 1754) in 'Bibliotheca Meadiana' (London:  1754);  sold for £0.6.6 according to the priced copy of the Mead sale catalogue in University of Glasgow Library (shelfmark Mu33-e.30).

Binding: England, 18th-century calf; covers decorated with a border formed from a double gold fillet and a fleur-de-lys and anthemion roll in blind; gold-tooled spine; sprinkled red-edged leaves. Size: 205 x 144 mm.
Leaf size: 200 x 140 mm.
Annotations: None.
Decoration: Six-line initial “D” on 1/1r in pale pink on a square purple ground with a blue fleur-de-lys in centre of the initial and with minor floral decoration extending into inner margin;  other two-line initials throughout supplied in alternate red and blue;  occasional paragraph marks in red or blue.
Imperfections: Wanting 5/7 and 5/8 (ff.41 and 42).
